Was watching KAOS (we've stopped at the second-to-last episode so no spoilers please & thank u). Spotted Robert Emms.

And now we are beginning the rewatch.

SHUT THE FUCK UP THEY HAVE ROBERT EMMS IN THIS?????

yeah yeah every one talks about Jeff Goldblum and it was cool when there was Billie Piper and David Thewlis, but FUCKING ROBERT EMMS? AND NO ONE TOLD ME?

Look, I'm first and formost an Atlantis BBC girlie and mentally unwell about this man. Have I ever shut up about Pythagoras within the last ten years?? I think the fuck not. I've fixated so hard on this character it made me sign up on tumblr.com in 2014

(FOR REAL my current url is a reference to this tragic gay love story that rewired my brain at age sixteen)

(also fun fact my friend and I planned on watching episode 1 of Atlantis literally today, this is such a happy coincident for me right now)

stumbled across bbc atlantis on iplayer and holy shit. this show was something. they crammed it so full of recogniseable figures from greek mythology like medusa, hercules, the minotaur and then said "oh yeah and pythagoras is here too. the guy with the triangle theory. he is also here. and he's traumatised and autistic". then in the second season they said "oh, he's gay and his boyfriend is icarus btw"

they made a highly famous mathematician into an overly anxious gay loser and then, to quote that one post about dead boy detectives, they tossed him at tumblr like a wedding bouquet

I just rewatched BBC Atlantis and I’d forgotten how good it was? So I have three things to say:

1. Way to cancel the show right having canon gays, guys (but at least there were gays? As a Merlin fan, this is an improvement, so I don’t know whether to be happy or not)

2. I think I’m going to murder BBC for cancelling it (joking for legal reasons, but seriously what the fuck)

3. There had better be so much Pythagorus/Icarus fic on AO3. I mean so much.

Very much enjoying an Atlantis season 2 rewatch but it has to be said- they really did squeeze the gay in right at the end! In the space of 4 episodes Pythagoras met Icarus (hey new character he apparently already knew but we never saw before!), flirted, fell in love, was betrayed & had his heart broken and ended the perfect arc with a redemption kiss before walking off into the sunset.

I repeat: FOUR EPISODES.

(To be fair, most of it's the final episode.)

eventhough jason had hercules and pythagoras, he actually would have been really lonely. he literally was taken to a completely different world and had to deal with the adjustments alone!

the show made out he adjusted easily but come on....mythical creatures, greek myth which is apparently now real, even things like using the toilet etc would have been a major and difficult adjustment 💀 he was literally living in a world where they executed people.

i was actually thinking yesterday how jason was naked when he washed ashore and stole some clothes that were there and they ended up being his clothes throughout the entire show - that man had no clothes or home! so like imagine if he didn't meet hercules and pythagoras what would he have done 😭

I love every version where icarus and apollo were tragic lovers but to me personally icarus is hopelessly in love with his best friend a twink nerd mathematician named pythagoras

BBC Atlantis had so much potential that it was going to be even better than Merlin (which is hard to believe). I will never forgive them for cancelling this show right when they setup the main arc of the story. I hope you enjoy💖✨

Unrelated but did you ever watch the Atlantis BBC show. Where the main character Jason falls through a portal and ends up in the ancient city of Atlantis (trademark) to become friends with a man called Hercules and the real ancient mathematician Pythagoras. I think the implication was that Jason and Hercules were the heroes of myth too which made it even more bizarre???

I had no fucking this was a thing. Sounds wild pffttt
